Claire & Sam’s wedding day was the most delightful mix of heart and style I could have imagined. They married on the grounds of Claire’s family home with their dog Gus as the ring bearer and the pastor who married Claire’s parents 35 years ago at the altar to seal their vows. Claire wore a gorgeous gown by Hayley Paige and rocked a casual elegant vibe all day while guests enjoyed pie and the rustic scenery (including quilt covered hay bale sofas at the cocktail hour and the after dinner fire.) And let’s not forget the guys. Sam channelled James Bond in his perfect tux and felt the love from his unfiltered, jokester dad and joyous siblings and mom. I loved how the simple soybean fields and rolling apple orchards on the property became gorgeous, intimate backdrops for Sam & Claire to spend a few moments alone; how those landscapes that have been constants in Claire’s life became extra-ordinary as she shared them a new with her husband for the first time. And then at the reception the catering was local, the flowers romantic and abundant, the tent a Sperry sail cloth variety that made it feel just a wee bit nautical as they danced, toasted, and watched fireworks by the pond that earlier in the day reflected a spectacular September sky. The toasts were creative and heartfelt (with the Maid of Honor creating a custom song for them as her toast and the Best Man performing his toast in dog character- a tribute to the fact that Gus really is such a huge part of their lives.) All in all, it was home made and it was couture, it was friendly and heartfelt, it was a day long in the making and one that started an even longer forever.
